Wedding Photographer in Tucson

Congratulations on your engagement! I am a wedding photographer in Tucson, Arizona. I offer experience, professionalism and award winning wedding photography at affordable prices. Allow me to capture your special moments.

Your wedding day is one of those rare, special moments in life, that requires the care and trust only an experienced wedding photographer can provide. Whether you are planning a formal wedding or a casual wedding, a large wedding or a small wedding, I would love to be your wedding photographer!

I not only wanted to find a photographer who could capture our day, but also someone who really would make this an enjoyable experience for everyone, while at the same time could keep within our budget. I almost thought I would not find all those qualities in a photographer, so I am extremely grateful I found and chose Paul Van Helden Photography. He not only took the time to get to know our vision for the day, but he made us both extremely comfortable while capturing some of the most valued pictures we have of each other. His creativeness in his photos, attention to detail, flexibility, and care for what he does is top notch and I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Wedding Photography Prices

I offer high-quality affordable wedding photogaphy. My standard hourly packages range from $575, for up to three and a half hours of photography time, to $1275 for an eight to ten hour coverage. Additionally, I recently created my Dream Come True packages, designed for couples, who are having either a very small wedding or just want a professional photographer for the duration of their wedding ceremony and however long it takes to do group photographs and portaits of the bride and groom. Pricing for my Dream Come True packages vary, according to the size of the wedding, and range from $250 to $399. The $250 package is ideal for very small weddings, with a guest list of less than twenty people.

All described wedding packages come complete with the following items and services, previewing the wedding location(s) for lighting and backgrounds, planning and preparing a wedding photography timeline with the bride and groom, experienced photographic coverage of your wedding day, by yours truly, editing your images, on-line viewing, a DVD with your high-resolution (unmarked) digital images, printing rights, and more. To receive a complete list of all my packages, please fill out this FORM.

Appointments and Availability
Narrowing down the right wedding photographer, as with a lot of things, often comes down to the level of service, the quality of the product and price. In this case, you want the best wedding photographer available, that is within your budget. When it comes to quality, my advice would be not to equate quantity into it. Some photographers will try to offer more stuff to make up for a lack of quality, which will turn out to be meaningless, if you are not happy with the photos.

Although I have booked many weddings, without the luxury of having met the bride and groom first, it is always a good idea for couples to set up an in-person consultation with prospective wedding photographers beforehand. However, before scheduling an appointment with me or (gulp) other wedding photographers, make sure our packages are within range of what you want to spend. In so doing, you will shorten your list of appointment worthy wedding photographers to just two or three, saving yourself a lot of unnecessary running around. Planning your wedding day takes a lot of time, so be resourceful. If you are planning to meet with more than three photographers, you are probably doing too much.

To check my availability for your wedding date or to arrange a no-obligation consultation, please call me at 520-744-2067, send an EMAIL or just fill out this FORM. During your stay, you can leisurely browse through my display albums, as we discuss the details of your wedding and the best way(s) to go about capturing your day. What is your preferred beverage? I have bottled water, coffee, black and green tea.

Paul Van Helden is amazing. He is so talented! His photos are simply beautiful. You can tell that he loves what he does. His passion for photography shines through his work. Not only is he talented, he is SO fair in his pricing! My husband and I received gorgeous photos and we didn't go bankrupt in the process! I come from a family of artists and I am very picky, but Paul exceeded my expectations in every way. I really cannot describe how fortunate I feel to have these beautiful memories recorded for all time. Thank you Paul for your fairness, your professionalism, and your amazing talent.

Wedding Photographers in Tucson

Over the last twenty years, I have the good fortune of photographing hundreds of weddings, with a passion, as strong today as it has ever been. Recently, thanks to my wonderful and loyal wedding clients, I was honored with a Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award, for the second year in a row.

I know you have lots of choices for wedding photographers in Tucson. So, why choose me? First, it is important to note, unlike many studios and some wedding photographers, I do not sublet my services out to other photographers. This means that when you book me to capture the special moments of your wedding day, you are actually getting me, an accomplished and experienced wedding photographer, who absolutely knows what he is doing, who will make your day run as smoothly as possible and will work very hard to make you happy.

Secondly, I believe that when you truly take the time to analyze the full extent of the service I provide, including pre-production planning and post-production editing work, my product cannot be beat, at the price that I have made it available. However, that is your determination and decision to make. Hopefully, you will agree! If not, I will tip my cap to other person.

My Wedding Photography Background

I started shooting weddings, by working for a photography studio, in Franklin, Massachusetts, first as an assistant to a wedding photographer, then as a backup photographer. The studio booked many weddings, three to four on some weekends. I was one in a revolving door of aspiring wedding photographers to come through the studio, but the only one that I can recall in all my time there, to make it all the way to the goal line. I was very determined but also very fortunate. Murphys Law is alive and well, when it comes to novice wedding photographers. In retrospect, given everything that could have gone wrong, during that break in period, I think someone truly must have wanted me to do this.

I went on to become the main wedding photographer for the studio, a capacity in which I served for five years, before opening my own business in Bellingham, Massachusetts, primarily as a wedding photographer and engagement photographer. I succeeded to photograph hundreds of weddings in the Boston area and throughout New England.

After nine years of running my wedding photography business in Massachusetts, quality of life issues on the street where I lived caused me to reexamine my future on the east coast and led to my relocating to Tucson, Arizona, in 2004, where a few of my family members had already taken residence. It is a move, I have never regretted. My love for this landscape and the southwest, in general, goes back long before I settled here.
